Vi er på Bornholm!
Now we are on Bornholm, in Denmark!
So I last left off with us on our final night in Amsterdam. We went on a lovely canel cruise through Amsterdam canels. Everyone from the bus was there, so it was great fun. We took lots of photos of each other (as you do). The tour guide on the boat was quite concerned we were taking lots of photos, but none of Amsterdam! It was quite funny. From there we headed to our final dinner together. It was at a Chinese restaurant, which are very common in Amsterdam (who would've thought?). Luckily they knew what Contiki people were like, as we would've been kicked out of any other restaurant. It was a lovely meal, and I even managed to talk to a few people I didn't get to know so well on the trip. We partied into the night but eventually dragged ourselves to bed, as we had to get up at 5.30am!
The next morning we headed back to London to finish our Contiki trip. It was a sad bus ride home as we had to say goodbye to 3 people in Amsterdam. We drove through Belgium and stopped for an early lunch before we got to the ferry at Calais. Now I can say I've been to Belgium, even if it was at a truckstop! We arrived in London and stopped at the bar with a good half of the bus. We bought a ticket for the last bus going to Stansted airport, at 11.59pm. We said all our goodbyes in the pub. A bit like the end of Ocean's 11 movie - one by one, people start to disappear.
We got to Stansted airport at about 1.30am, found a spot on the floor with the hundreds of others, and tried to sleep a little. Didn't realise this was the thing to be done if you had one of the first flights. We finally got on the plane and arrived in Malmö, Sweden at about 10am. We caught the bus to Copenhagen (just over the bridge now!), had lunch, then caught the bus to Bornholm. To cut a long story a bit shorter, we had been awake since 5.30am the day before (in Amsterdam) and finally got to Bornholm at 4.45pm. OH NO, the day was not over. Once we had a cold drink and a shower, we weren't feeling that bad. My host parents and one sister (Helle) went out for dinner at a nice steak house. Managed to stay awake until 9pm then crashed! Woke up at 9am the next day!!!
To summarise, we have been doing the sights of Bornholm, where I did my exchange 8 years ago. Cameron has never been, so it was all new to him. We have managed to fill 5 days here, though we have been snoozing in the afternoon. Contiki is a big thing to get over!!!!
Off to Copenhagen tomorrow, to stay with some more of my host sisters, and see the big city!! Looking forward to it! I do love that city.
Keep in touch people!!!!!!!
