work? who goes to their job to work?!
Today was a busy day and I felt like I did no work!
It's Paula's birthday on Sunday so we decided to go to out for lunch to celebrate. We headed to Le Dome. I had the cesar salad - nothing to brag about. The egg was poached but freezing cold! The entire dish was straight out of the fridge! Including the already cooked bacon. Not good on the teeth. It was really nice to sit and just hang out with my workmates. Our whole team went. Of course an hour lunch break was a bit closer to 1.5-2 hours! A few wines later (ahh no not me) we were just chatting and kinda forgot about work!
Had to be back by 2pm anyway cause us newbies to the unit had induction. That was the LONGEST two hours of my life! Our unit manager has got to be one of the worst presenters EVER! EVER!!!!!!! Monotone voice and a warm room = sleepy.
Anyway, after that we had our monthly "networking". It's where our unit (5 teams of about 6-8 people) stop work and socialise. It's classed as a meeting and is compulsory to attend, but the boss shouts beers and nibbles. If you don't drink beer, you have to bring your own drinks. Each time our Ministry of Fun organise an activity (yes I've already signed up for that!). I organised tonight's activity - quiz night!!! Actually one of the other guys on the committee was meant to do it, and had a month to do it. He emailed the rest of the committee on THURSDAY afternoon to say he hadn't done it, so of course I said I'd do it. I didn't mind, but it meant I couldn't participate :-( It was a great night and everyone really got into it! The boss even came up with some movie vouchers for the winning team!
So that was my social "work" day!
