Can't wait for Camp Quality!

When I last signed off, we had loud shirt day at work. Well the shirts that came out! I sadly didn't get any photos, but I can show you what I wore. It was the same t-shirt and singlet I wore to the 80s party we had last year - click here

Over the weekend I went to Camp Quality training. I am now totally amped for camp next January! It was great to catch up with all my mates and to meet some new ones who are keen to join the team! Though I must say, it was about two thirds returnees and one third newbies! Still, it was a great weekend!!!

They asked for volunteers to help with the annual Camp Quality Escarpade. It's the first full week of November and is in the Manawatu area. I've asked my boss and she said I can have the time off! I have enough leave for that week and a week of camp next Jan!! I'm so excited. For those who don't know, the Escarpade is similar to the Variety Bash that those celebrities do. So I have 6 weeks before that, and I can't wait!!!!!!!

Anyone want to sponsor us?! You can put your company name on our car!!!!!

the latest

Well, actually, there isn't too much to report since I last wrote, but you know I'm just going to blah on anyway!

Since I last wrote, I've had a couple of job opportunities come up. One was a helpdesk job where I'd just sit on my butt for 8 hours a day answering questions about Microsoft Office - BORING. They pay was going to be AWESOME (yay for the private sector!) but not worth it to turn my brain to mush. The other I went for an interview for has been "frozen" as the company has been bought out by another. Oh well, probably wouldn't have taken that job as it was a sole position with you being the only IT person in Hamilton, and therefore in an office by yourself. I'd go crazy! I did apply for another job in Cambridge at the district council there, but haven't heard anything yet, and it's been a couple of weeks. Think I'll write that job off.

Have been out for Indian food a couple of times the past 2 weeks and I have a new favourite dish! Lamb Korma! Not something I would've tried if I knew what was in it, but I didn't - so I tried it and it was YUM! Went out last night with Rach, Cam and Jo to Masala Club and ordered it for a second time, just to check. YEP! Still love it! Though I have to say that Masala Club is definately over-rated. The amount we got was quite small that after I'd finished, I didn't feel full. Most other Indian restaurants I've been to, you come out full and usually have some left on your plate!

On the 18th it was my workmate Andrew's birthday. I made him a cake shaped as Pacman! He's a retro kinda guy. He loved the cake although he did seem quite embarassed about getting it. Tasted yum too, despite the bright icing! The photo is from my phone, so isn't too bright. That yellow icing was as bright as you can imagine!

Tomorrow is Loud Shirt Day, so will let you know how that goes. Not sure I can find anything, although my cheeky sister said she didn't have anything and could she borrow one of mine! Like I have ANY, let alone more than one??!!!!! Cheeky Cow!

Hooray for Spring!

I'm feeling the warmth and the longer days already. It's great not having to drive to and from work in the dark! Bring on summer, I say!!!! I know I've just had one and missed the main part of winter here, but I don't care! I want summer again! Would skip winter every year if I could afford to. I'm just not a cold weather person.

A brief update on life to date:
Had a mystery bottle auction at work for a social club fundraiser. Lots of bottles wrapped in newspaper and people bidding on them. It was heaps of fun. Last week the social club went to the movies to see The Lake House. If you get over the fact of time travel, then it's quite a sweet movie!

2 friends that have been living in England the past 2 years came to NZ for a visit. Got to catch up with them twice for dinner while they were here!! It was great to see Al & Penny after 2 years and it kinda sucks it will probably be another 2 years before we see each other again. Miss you guys!!

Went home this past weekend as Nana was staying with Mum for the weekend before heading back to the South Island after their 3 weeks in Australia. Good to see The Nana as I haven't seen her since about January. I also got to catch up with some long lost friends from school! We went tenpin bowling at 13th Ave bowling alley in Tauranga. It looks exactly the same as it did 15 years ago!!!!!! Then we headed to The Cornerstone Pub on The Strand for drinks and watch the Bay beat Tasman!! GO THE BAY!!!!

Oh that's a summary of my life since my last blog entry, and it's not too exciting for reading, but I've had a great time! My next challenge - looking for a new car! Both Rach and I are keen to replace our cars, so we are both on the hunt. I would like to get mine before my next warrent of fitness is due, which is the end of October, but I may be hoping for too much!!

PS: to my cousin Diane - I don't have a valid email address for you so I couldn't email you for your birthday!! Hope you had a good weekend!!! Email me with your current email address so we can keep in contact!
