Let's celebrate me!!
Following the tradition, the whole weekend was about me. Well.....it was for me anyway!
On Friday I managed to do about 2 hours of work all day. We had an international morning tea where everyone brought a dish to share from their country of origin (I did pancakes with REAL maple syrup). After that and a meeting, my team went out to lunch. 2 hours later we headed back to work. Who am I kidding?!! I filled in an hour by answering ONE job then left at 3pm as I had some lieu time owing. I got home and went straight to bed! A nana nap was definately needed as I'd been awake since 5am (not up, just awake - the brain just switched on - very random!)
Friday evening a bunch of friends and I went out for dinner. The service wasn't the greatest, but the food was fantastic. The garlic bread is the best EVER! I had a seafood risotto for my main which was HUGE. I only got through half of it! It was a great evening with a couple of groups of friends getting on well together. Special thanks to Ali who came all the way from Tauranga for dinner!
On Saturday, Rach, Cam and I headed out to the Pitch n Putt! That isn't a full game of golf, but it's a bit more than minigolf. We were given a driver and a putter. The holes were about 45-70m, but that was still quite a challenge. The green is on raised ground, so we got the nasty southerly wind while playing. That was what caused our bad game play.......hmmmm.
Saturday evening, Jo, Cam, Rach, Rach's parents and I headed off to Waikato Stadium to see the All Blacks vs Canada! It was a tough call whether I wore black or red. I opted for black - mainly for the fact that I did not have a thick jersey in red. I surprisingly remembered most of the Canadian national anthem. Luckily it was like karaoke with the words up on the screen. My boss' cousin was actually singing it!
Sadly the All Blacks kicked the Canuk's ass - but what do you expect? Final score: 64 - 13
On Sunday Jo and I went shopping before heading out to look at the campsite where we're having Camp Quality next summer. They are redoing the entire kitchen, so Mum will be loving that (she's head chef on camp). I've already eyed up the room I want to sleep in!! The joys of being staff and now have the job of organising the sleeping arrangements (actually am in charge of the kids and matching them up with companions with the companion registrar - but they all have to sleep somewhere).
Sunday evening I managed to get roped into being photographer for Jo's work awards dinner. It was in a lovely cold hall but they did a good job doing it up with a non-existing budget. It was also nice to meet some of the faces to the names and the stories Jo often tells me!
Well that was the weekend. Now I'm counting down til I leave to Sydney! 2 weeks today!!!
(also Daniel has given us his notice - he's moving back home to Austria. Anyone know of someone looking for a flat in Hamilton to live with 3 FANTASTIC people??!!)
