I've had the best weekend!

This weekend has been fantastic!!!! Heaps of things to do, people to see, etc and it's all be great!

On Saturday I went to my friend Marie Boyer's wedding. Her and I have probably been friends since we were about 8 years old. Glad to see our friendship has lasted this long! So Marie married Chris Barrett from Tokoroa, so yes, it was another day in Tokoroa (cause 5 days a week isn't enough, I had to make it 6!!)

The ceremony was held in a reserve just south of Tokoroa. It was absolutely pouring down all Friday night and even up til about 10am on Saturday. But the Gods were smiling on her as the weather cleared up and the grass wasn't even that soggy!! They brought in a lovely archway with flowers all over it for them to marry under. Marie and the bridal party arrived in 2 Holdens......much to the new father-in-law's disgust! (obviously a Ford fan). As she walked in, the sun shone bright and she looked BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely stunning!

After the ceremony we went back into town to the Bowling Club for the reception. I felt like quite a dick standing there as there weren't placed settings and I didn't know ANYONE except Marie and her parents (obviously busy!). Luckily Marie's Aunt came to my rescue and invited me to sit with them. Dinner was lovely then we moved on to the speeches. They are both rather joking families so was pretty light hearted until it got to Marie's dad. He nearly had us all in tears as he got really choked up (twice!) while doing his speech.

Sunday I dragged myself out of bed early and headed up to Auckland. I couldn't find any friends to go along with me, so I tagged along with my Mum and her friends. We went to see Dirty Dancing! For those who have seen the movie (and know it off by heart like myself and Rachel!) then you will absolutely LOVE the stage show! It was over 2 hours long and a fantastic show. The guy who was playing Jonny Castle LOOKED like Patrick did back in the movie! It was well cast! I had a funny lady sitting beside me who kept mumbling certain lines that were coming up! Think we were all doing that in our head anyway! The KEY line was said in the final scene
"Nobody puts baby in a corner" was followed by lots of cheers and applause from the audience. It was fantastic!! I wish I had more money so I could go see it again!!! It was AWESOME!!!

I'm just sitting in the dark...

and quite literally! Wednesday night (after I'd gone to bed) Cameron found out that our lights had decided to stop working in all the communal areas (except the bathroom, thank goodness!)

Yesterday morning I got up and saw Rach cooking toast by the 2 tiny lights on our oven. I asked what she was doing as she normally has all the kitchen lights blazing and she told me what Cam found out the night before. So a nice mood-lit breakfast and I rushed off to work, forgetting all about it.

Got home last night and found Rach was cooking dinner by a spare lamp and the oven lights - oh yeah.....forgot about that situation. Luckily we have some night lights in our lounge so we weren't in complete darkness.

Rach, Cam, Jo and I headed off to The Cook in Hamilton East for their first comedy night (once hosted by Revert/Fuel/Bahama Hut......Fat Ladies Arms?!). If you go in before 8pm, it's free! We were in there about 7.45pm and it was packed! We decided against staying as there wasn't much room to stand. We went into town to The Bank for dessert/coffee. Was a nice evening out, just hanging out in different scenery.

But we still have no lights.......

another weekend down...

Well, I know it's only just Sunday afternoon, but I'm sure there will be nothing exciting happening tonight that needs to go in my entry about this weekend......but you never know!

On Friday night a bunch of us from Camp Quality met for dinner at Grillers Restaurant. Oh yes, the very same on that I was at LAST Friday for Rach's graduation. Good thing they've got a good menu with plenty to choose from!!! Anyway, it was a lovely dinner and great to catch up with everyone. For half of them, it was the first time we'd caught up since camp finished in Jaunary. Looking forward to the official reunion in May where the kids and families get to come along as well. It's in Rotorua this year, which could make for an interesting trek seeing as we're probably doing something for Cameron's birthday the night before!!

Saturday morning I was up bright and breezy. No idea why as I didn't get to bed til after 1am but then I was up at 7am. NO IDEA why and it DOES drive me crazy. Just the habit of waking up for work every morning at 5.45am. When can I get a new job that's closer to home??????
Anyway, went for a bit of a mission into town. I have a wedding next weekend and trying to find a nice top to wear. I have a skirt I could wear, but hey, if I find something better, then that's fantastic! Didn't find any clothes I liked (though I didn't actually make it very far!). The radio had an ad on for Dick Smith PowerHouse. Buy any digital camera over $300 and you can get interest free finance for a year. I do have to get a new camera before I go away but really hadn't seriously thought about it yet. So I thought, why not stop in for a look?! To cut a LONG story short, I was hassled by the sales lady about buying the $900 camera but I was looking at a different one. I then worked out she didn't work for Dick Smith, but for Kodak - hence why no other cameras featured in her sales pitch! Left her standing there (after my darling sister came to rescue me!) and looked at this other Fuji camera I want. For those who know Cameron's little flash camera, it's similar to that, but Fuji brand. It's at a discounted rate cause they are end of line. Still thinking about it at this stage. I actually think if it wasn't pouring with rain today, I'd be back at the shop having another good look at it!!!!

OK, so you probably don't care that much, but this is my blog and I'll write crap if I want to!

Saturday night we had a work function. We caught a bus from Tokoroa and Putaruru and went through to Rotorua. We had a LOVELY dinner at the Rainbow Springs Cafe. They were a 2 woman team looking after all of us. Dinner was amazing with roast lamb & vegies, chicken breasts stuffed with spinach (& other things), fresh fish and salads, then we moved on to dessert of pavalova, cheesecake, apple & berry crumble, custard and lots of cream (I was very good and had none of it!). They had cheap bar prices and even put out complimentary juice, tea and coffee (normally paid for individually). When we decided we couldn't possibly fit in any more, we wandered across the carpark to Rainbow Springs where we did their Beauty by Night walk. It was a lovely walk and the weather held off on the rain. One lady and I managed to stalk a kiwi and get a picture

We kept walking around, and then found ourselves being stalked by "mute swans". According to the sign, that's what they were, but it sure sounded like they were hoiking (??) at us!!!

It was a great night and for those people from our work that turned their nose up at it, TOUGH!
