I'm feeling appreciated!
For the last Friday of each month, our floor has a "networking" meeting. This is when we all gather around and "network". OK, sure there is a beer or glass of wine in hand, but we're "getting to know each other"! Anyway, we have an activity that goes along with it that our Ministry of Fun (small committee with reps from each team) come up with. I couldn't help myself but sign up for this committee!
For July's end of month activity, we had a whole week! We did secret appreciation week. For those that have been reading my blog for a while now, will know that this idea has popped up before. I brought this idea with me, and if I do say so myself, it worked really well. It was a fun week, and most of those involved had a great time too. Some of those who opted not to participate, were pretty envious by the end of the week!
For those who don't know what this is, we all filled in a form with some of our favourites, eg food, drink, animal, etc. Those forms were then randomly handed out to participants, and you had to secretly appreciate that person for the week. At the Friday networking, all was revealed. We had 1 guess to see who had been appreciating us, then were corrected if we got it wrong. I guessed mine right, but the last day gave it away completely. I had an A2 poster on the wall by my desk saying that I was appreciated. To print that size, you have to use the plotter printer, which normally prints our maps - so I guessed with was our GIS analyst. Still was a nice thought. I got a few other gifts along the week, which were thoughtful.
So it sounds like it could now be an annual thing from now on!
